The silver dollar plant blooms in the spring and is a very low maintenance flower. The good thing about the silver dollar plant is that it will continue to reseed itself year after year. This means that you’ll have several of these plants within a few years of getting the first one. Just make sure you choose a spot to plant your silver dollar plant where it can grow for many years.
If you want to make sure you’ll have flowers on your silver dollar plants every year, then just plant a new one two years in a row. This way, the two plants you have will alternate flowering years, and you’ll have a flowering silver dollar plant each year.
The silver dollar plant is very easy to grow, even for people with the blackest of thumbs! The best place to plant this variety of flower is in a shady spot in your yard. They don’t do well in direct sunlight, so it’s very important that the area where you plant it is shady year after year.
You won’t need to do much for your silver dollar plant. Just water it whenever it seems like you’re going through a dry spell. They favor just about any soil type, so you really should be able to just plant it and leave it. You will want to use mulch around the flower when you first plant it to keep weeds from growing up around your flower. You’ll also find that the silver dollar plant does not attract too many pests, so you should not need insecticide very often, if you ever do.
If you want to share your silver dollar plants with others, then the plant’s reseeding properties make it very easy to do so. You may also find it profitable to sell the seeds, as many people enjoy this plant’s unique flowers and great characteristics. You can even start your own silver dollar plants indoors if you have a garden center that will purchase your plants. Just sprinkle a few of the seeds on the surface of the soil in the pot, and then cover them with about an eighth of an inch of soil. Keep your pots warm and moist to allow the seedlings to sprout. You can then either give these plants away or sell them to your garden center. They make nice gifts for any occasion, and it’s always nice to have an extra plant or two around to give to someone who needs a little bit of a brighter day.
